Sliding Doors

It's the swiftness
Of the rules
Set to keep the peace.
Sliding slowly
Underneath me.
Welcome the light
Sun shining,
Or the dead of night
That welcomes sin.
Fooling the fool
Stringing up
The tangled heart
Strings of mine;
Time is not on my side.
I gripped it tight
But it floated away.
How can you win
When your destination
Is failure?
